1. Project54 graduate research assistantship: in-car user interfaces

Project54 has an opening for a graduate research assistant in the area of driving simulator-based research on in-car user interfaces. The start date is either May or September 2010.  Both PhD and MS level students will be considered for the position.

2. Project54 graduate research assistantship: ubiquitous computing

Project54 has an opening for a graduate research assistant in the general area of ubiquitous computing. The start date is either May or September 2010.  Both PhD and MS level students will be considered for the position.

3. Project54 undergraduate research assistantships

Project54 has immediate openings (start date of January 2010) for undergraduate research assistants (UGRAs) in the general area of ubiquitous computing. UGRAs will be expected to work 5-20 hours during the academic year and 40 hours for at least 10 weeks during the summer.

UGRAs will work on issues related to application development on handheld computers (Smartphones, PDAs) running the Windows OS and/or application development on in-car embedded computers also running the Windows OS. The applications will often be voice-driven, they will be aimed primarily at law enforcement and will:

  • provide access remote databases,
  • take, tag and transmit photographs,
  • interact with third-party computer-aided-dispatch software,
  • provide other location-based services.

UGRAs will also submit a UNH SURF proposal for 2010.
